For the summer semester 2025, registration will take place from
Thursday, 27/03/2025, 1:00 pm to Thursady, 03/04/2025, noon.
The registration for the module is the registration for the module exam as well.
The subsequent module registration after the module has started is only possible on request. A subsequent module registration can be carried out until the end of the third week since the start of the module. In this case, please contact the lecturers of the individual modules you wish to attend and have them confirm your registration using the registration form. The deadline for submitting the form at the Study Office Deutsch im Studium is the end of the third week after the start of the module. The subsequent module registration is the registration for the module exam as well.
Please check whether the module registration has been completed in AlmaWeb and contact the Study Office Deutsch im Studium immediately if you have any questions.
Students' module registrations are transferred from TOOL to AlmaWeb after the end of the registration period and before the start of the modules. Only then will students be able to carry out other activities related to their module registration in AlmaWeb (e.g. module de-registration).
Please check in AlmaWeb whether the registrations have been transferred correctly and contact the Study Office Deutsch im Studium immediately if you have any questions.
The course period is usually 14 weeks per semester and is based on the academic calendar of Leipzig University. The exact dates of your modules can be found in the course catalogue or after the registration in AlmaWeb.
The modules Deutsch im Studium are fee-required.The fee for a module (one semester) is:
- 100,00 EUR per 4 semester hours a week (SWS)
- 150,00 EUR per 6 semester hours a week (SWS)
- 300,00 EUR per 12 semester hours a week (SWS)
Depending on your status (exchange students vs. degree seeking students) there are exceptions:
International exchange students of Leipzig University participating in the following exchange programmes (Erasmus+ EU exchange students, Erasmus+ worldwide exchange students and exchange students from bilateral university partnerships) are not required to pay a fee for the modules. However the modules 30-DIS-INTB1, 30-DIS-A1 and 30-DIS A2 are fee-required for exchange students.
International degree seeking students of Leipzig University are required to pay a fee for the modules. However the modules 30-DIS-BERUF, 30-DIS-A1, 30-DIS-A2 and 30-SQM-30 are free of charge for degree seeking students as part of project funding.
During the first week of the modules' start, Studienkolleg Sachsen will sent an invoice to your student e-mail address (studserv). The fee is due at the end of the second week of the modules' start. Payment must be made by bank transfer after the registration. The fee is non-refundable if you withdraw after the third week of the modules' start. Studienkolleg Sachsen reserves the right to de-register students from the modules in case of non-payment.
The module de-registration and the associated de-registration of the module exams is possible up to 4 weeks before the end of the lecture period at the latest (see academic calendar of Leipzig University). The de-registration can only be carried out by the student in AlmaWeb. Once the de-registration deadline has passed, you will no longer be able to de-register from the module.
How to de-register from modules and their exams in AlmaWeb is explained within the AlmaWeb click-by-click guide.
Once you de-register from a module, all the exams you have already taken in that module are considered as not taken. This means that if you have already completed part of the overall exam during the semester (e.g. submission of a portfolio component), this partial grade will be forfeited!
The coordinator Deutsch im Studium can recognise exams and study results from previous studies upon request, unless there are significant differences in the competences acquired. Please submit the necessary request and proof. This applies to examd and study achievements from former universities and other educational institutions.
Qualifications obtained outside the degree programme will be recognised if they match the module content and requirements and can therefore be substituted.
It is recommended to consult the coordinator Deutsch im Studium beforehand.
The administration of the modules 30-PHY-BIPSQ1, 30-PHY-BIPSQ2 and 30-PHY-BIPSQ3 is carried out by the Study Office of the Faculty of Physics and Earth System Sciences. Please inquire to this Study Office if you have any questions.
You can obtain the lecturers' contact details from the secretaries' office.
Exam dates, venues and possible postponements are communicated by the lecturers during the courses and are usually published on AlmaWeb or Moodle course 6 weeks before the exam date.
Exam results and module results are published in AlmaWeb by the lecturers. If results are missing, please always contact the lecturer first.
You can find an overview of your grades on AlmaWeb in the menu:
Studies → Exams → Overview of Grades
The module results of the modules Deutsch im Studium are listed on the overview of grades in the section "Additional Achievements".
If you require an official Transcript of Records, this document can be issued on request by the Study Office of your faculty or your Erasmus+ departmental coordinator (for exchange students). Please contact the Study Office responsible for you or your Erasmus+ departmental coordinator (for exchange students), stating your matriculation number and your student e-mail address (studserv) and submit your overview of grades issued from AlmaWeb.
If you are unable to attend a module exam due to illness you have to inform your lecturer on the day of the exam. Furthermore please submit your filled in certificate to the Study Office Deutsch im Studium immediatly or within 4 working days the latest. You can hand in the certificate in person during office hours. Outside office hours you can drop the certificate in the letterbox (main entrance Lumumbastraße 4). Alternatively, you can send the certificate by post:
Studienkolleg Sachsen
Adressed to: Sarah Semrau
Lumumbastraße 4
04105 Leipzig
The original postmark or date of receipt of the certificate will count. Please be sure to include the following information, otherwise the certificate may not be processed correctly:
- Full name
- Enrolment number
- Module number of the upcoming exam
- If applicable, which partial exam
- Date of the examination
Your inability to take the exam due to illness will be registered in AlmaWeb for the corresponding module exam. You will be able to find this information in AlmaWeb in the menu:
Exams → Module results → Select module → Exams
If you have handed in a certificate, the make-up date for the module exam will be arranged with the lecturer in charge.
Read more about the change in the law from January 2025 on the inability to take an exam due to illness here.
In order to claim compensation for an exam, you must submit a request to the examination board. The request must be submitted to the examination board at least 4 weeks before the exam date.
You will need to provide appropriate proof to support your request (e.g. a medical certificate stating the impact of your medical condition on your ability to take the exam) and a proposal for the implementation of the compensation for disadvantages (e.g. extension of writing time or layout adjustment). The request must be sufficiently clear for the examination board to make a decision. This implies a duty of cooperation on the part of the applicant.
Students have to inform themselves about the exam results in AlmaWeb. The notification of a failed exam is published in the student's AlmaWeb. There is usually no separate notification of failed exam, except for the module 30-SQM-30.
In the case of a final failed exam, the student will receive a written notification.
In the case of failed module exam, only those exams which have been graded "fail" (5.0) may be retaken. The first re-exam usually takes place in the upcoming semester, not earlier than 14 days after the notification of the result. You can find the date of the first re-exam on AlmaWeb.
The second re-exam may only be taken on request at the next available exam date. If no request is made before the next possible exam date, you will automatically be registered for the second re-exam. You can find the date of the second re-exam on AlmaWeb.
Click guide to find the date of the re-exam on AlmaWeb:
Studies > Exam registration > selection of the semester in which the module was taken for the first time
