You can only study at the Studienkolleg Sachsen if you have shown that you have German language skills at level B1 of the European reference framework (CEFR) and provisory pre-admission to a specialized study program. On this page you can find a detailed overview of these requirements.
Requirements for your Admission to the Studienkolleg
To be admitted to the Studienkolleg Sachsen, you must meet the following requirements:
- German language skills at level B1
All applicants must provide documentation of German language skills at level B1 according to the "Gemeinsamen europäischen Referenzrahmen für Sprachen" ("Common European Framework of Reference for Languages"). It is estimated that you reach this level after about 500 hours of instruction. If you do not yet have these language skills, you can take a language course, e.g. at interDaF e. V. am Herder-Institut der Universität Leipzig, and achieve level B1.
- Provisory pre-admission for studies at a university or scientific college within the Free State of Saxony
All applicants must have a provisional pre-admission to a specialized study program. This pre-admission should be valid for studying at any university within the State of Saxony. The procedure for applying for pre-admission varies for applicants in the first application procedure and applicants who have to repeat the entrance test, and depending on which university you are applying to.

If you are applying for the first time to a Saxon university for a specialized study program, you can apply for pre-admission at the service point of uni-assist e. V. Please do not contact the Studienkolleg Sachsen or the International Office of a Saxon university to apply for this pre-admission. Find more information here:

Repeated Application
If it is not your first time applying to a Saxon university for a specialized study program, but is rather a subsequent application, then you will receive another pre-admission from the institution from which you received the original pre-admission. For example, this can be one of the following institutions:
Application deadlines for universities in the Free State of Saxony are as follows:

- December 15 for the following summer semester
- June 15 for the following winter semester
- Technische Universität Dresden und Technische Universität Chemnitz
- January 15 for the following summer semester
- July 15 for the following winter semester
- Technische Universität Bergakademie Freiberg
- October 31 for the following summer semester
- April 30 for the following winter semester
Before you can study at the Studienkolleg Sachsen, you must take an entrance test in German. All applicants who want to attend the T-, W- or M-course of the Schwerpunktkurse have to take the entrance test in mathematics in addition to the entrance test in German.
